The first task was getting each test machine riddled with viruses, NOT AS HARD AS YOU WOULD THINK! I ended up with a hard drive of 80GB having 1784 different types of virus, malware and spyware 
There’s a few websites/downloads which certainly helped me out in this area

As you can see, in every test Bitdefender outperformed the other AV applications. One think to note in particular, is the resourse usage. Bitdefender does not slow down your machine AT ALL. Every machine I have ran it on has continued to run like a dream! It also finished scanning faster than all the other applications AND removed 100% of the viruses.
Scan Time: Lower = Better
The speediest AV solution here is Bitdefender which finished after just 4 minutes , Kaspersky came very close behind in 2nd place and NOD32 didn’t do too badly either.
Peak memory usage: Lower = Better
The winner by a mile here is Bitdefender, operating at a maximum of just 36MB. Around one fifth of what Norton used!
Detected Viruses: Higher = Better
This scan was performed on the same hard disk with 80GB data – it was loaded with 1784 different types of spyware, malware and Viruses 
Here, again, Bitdefender is King. It detected and removed EVERY SINGLE VIRUS , Kaspersky and NOD32 also showed respectable results.

I have to say it was pretty close between Bitdefender and Kaspersky but Bitdefender came out on top. There was a few viruses that slipped through with Kaspersky but Bitdefender removed 100% – I also tested adding all the viruses whilst Bitdefender was active and it stopped ALL OF THEM before they even got a chance to propogate my system.
I was very fond of way that Bitdefender was very friendly in terms of user experience and resources. You certainly don’t need to be an expert to operate it and it used minimal RAM and CPU – This left my computer’s processing power free to be used on the applications which I use.
The price is also a strong selling point, at $29.95 it’s a no brainer. I would be very suprised if they don’t increase this within the next week or two.
